Warm Up in Winter
I am often asked in the office about foods and habits that will help my patients go through a healthy and warm winter. There are so many foods that can help you and your family enjoy the cold.
-
Externally using black hawthorn body oil on your skin that will act as warming oil and insulate you from the cold cold Montana winters.
-
Eat warming foods with sweet flavors, such as parsnips, squash, carrots and beets.
-
Cooking warming meals, long stews, soups with ginger. Hot apple cider in the evenings with stick of cinnamon, cloves and cardamom.
-
Clothes: Taking care of your kidneys. Wearing warm wool socks on your feet, rubbing some of that black hawthorn oil first. Using nice warming sleepers, if your husband or wife does not have once, it will be a nice Christmas present.
And do not, not, not consume cold drinks. That includes ice water, and ice cream. Those will most certainly hurt your body in the winter. Your body will need to warm up those cold foods before it is able to digest them. That will use your energy and your body heat, making you colder afterwards and more susceptible to disease.
